trips & visits

In addition to the academic work, Ephsol organises extensive trips and visits each year, ranging from small local excursions in London and residential trips elsewhere in the UK. All trips to new and interesting environments are advertised well in advance to enable parents to make an informed choice.

the aim is to
  • Develop and raise awareness of the chosen environment and impact on their studies
  • Create a sense of teamwork among the various students drawn from different mainstream schools
  • Expand and improve upon the research topics for presentation to external audiences
  • Foster a love for travelling to other parts of the UK and enjoy outdoor activities
  • Celebrate our success and help other pupils to follow suit.

We endeavour to promote inclusion in a wide range of activities. Over the years, pupils have had the opportunity of visiting and exploring extensive range of historic venues.

The following are a list of tasters that previous participants have indulged in recent years:

  • Oxford University Residential Trip in 2014
  • Westminster Abbey and Cambridge Theatre (Matilda the Musical) in May 2015
  • Residential trip to Isle of Wight in August 2015
  • Parliament House and Tower of London in October 2015

The school’s residential trip to one of the most renowned universities in the world (Oxford University in 2014) was a motivational excursion for our students. The excellent feedback received from both parents and students is something to behold. This has undoubtedly inspired us to introduce our students to other places of interest.

Future Aspiration for our students:

  • A four-day residential trip to Okehampton, Devon in 2017
  • Exeter University 2017.

We are excited and confident about the expansion of the school. A Steering Group Committee has been set up to oversee the provision of future trips in London as well as residential trips elsewhere in the UK. The Group has been drawn from industry and educational sectors to facilitate the provision of effective excursions to leading universities in the UK.

Planned visits to selected universities are designed to motivate and instil confidence in our students to apply to first class universities. We will continue to have links with top universities, parents and students who are eligible to ensure productivity.

The Steering Group Committee will ensure that the school can meet the needs of increased numbers of pupils participating in extra-curricular activities such as: research work, individual presentations, public speaking, effective writing skills and continue to enrich provision in these areas.

We want our students to experience the satisfaction and pleasure that comes from aiming high and succeeding in taking on demanding and challenging tasks. Our pastoral system is designed to give students the skills to tackle all the challenges that may confront them with confidence, kindness, good sense and the belief that they can succeed in all spheres of life.
